Brandilyn Farm Events
National Alpaca Farm Day
Weekend
September 29 & 30 2007
This was our first open event to the public
and we had a great turnout!  Over 100
people came out to the farm and visited with
us and our alpacas.  The weather
cooperated fully.  It was sunny and in the mid
70's all weekend.  We had refreshments for
everyone.  Donuts and apple cider too.  We
had a couple contest going.  One was Name
That Cria Contest for all the
kids that came out.  After the weekend was over I
looked over all the drawings the kids did and their
names.  I chose the name Delighla (spelled exactly
as it was wrote down) that was submitted by a
young girl named Erin, from Linden, MI.  She won a
picture of the cria, an alpaca activity book, and a
couple alpaca finger puppets.  We also had a
contest going to guess how many candy corn was
in the bottle.  The winner of that contest was
Douglas Fuller, of Flint MI.  He won a $25 gas
card.  We can all use one of those!  We had
people out just curious about alpacas and people
who were serious about starting there own farm.
It got to be pretty hectic at
times so I hope I got
around to answering
everyone's
questions!  I had our
PR alpaca, Rico
halter and all the kids
were just hanging all
over him.  He truly
likes little kids.  He
enjoys bopping
them on the head
with his soft nose.
Everyone was
fascinated to
discover alpacas
have toenails and
pads instead of
hooves.  I also had
packets made up
for anyone
interested in
starting there own farm or purchasing some
alpacas.  Quite a few packets were picked up by
our visitors.  All in all we had a very busy weekend
with Sunday being the busier of the two days.  Here
at Brandilyn we will be making National Alpaca
Farm Days a yearly event!

We will be posting all future events on this page so
keep checking back!
